Devil May Cry Volume 2 Devil May Cry

Dante the giant sword two gun toting devil hunter has earned the nickname Devil May Cry after mercilessly killing any and every undead creature in his path Now he is on a mission for an evil idol known as The Beast Head But little does Dante know that this mission brings him closer to his eternal enemyIntroductionBy Capcom Shinya Goikeda Shira M. Set some time after DMC1 and almost directly before DMC2 Devil May Cry Volume 2 novel tells a story not connected to main thread nor explaining anything from previous installments The only link with the DMC saga is Dante himself and MundusA beautiful young woman no less shows up and commissions Dante to help her with her demonic problem which turns out to be complicated than originally imagined Additionally the two devil hunters get tangled into criminal underworld and dodgy researchSurprisingly this is not a bad novelThe plot itself does not interfere with canon Dante is amazingly in character Beryl seems decently developed The book provides even a realistic amount of third party characters although they all are somewhat flat Setting suits DMC2 well it s actually possible to imagine this new world dark cities and advanced sciences The intrigue is another of let s save the world type but it had potential except that ridiculous parallel universes partIt could have been a good novel Instead it was developed as nothing than a complex script Did publishers set up some page limit Did the writer have problems with expanding some subjects Devil May Cry Volume 2 had the spark that could have been transformed into a full novel with intriguing plot interesting characters and solid setting if only it had volume to fit these things inIt is still a nice thing to read provided you don t mind roughly 200 pages of action It s much better than Devil May Cry Volume 1 that s for sure
